Pigs reduce costs

In order to lower the cost of pig farming, farmers can integrate chicken raising into their operations. By collecting and processing chicken manure—whether by drying, sterilizing, or using it fresh—it can be incorporated into pig feed without compromising nutritional value. This method not only reduces feed expenses but also promotes a more sustainable farming system. Another effective strategy is using tofu residue, commonly known as "bean curd square," which is rich in crude protein. This byproduct from soy milk production can be used as an excellent feed supplement for pigs, helping them gain weight quickly and reach market readiness faster. For full-price feed preparation, soybean cake is typically required. However, instead of buying expensive commercial products, farmers can utilize the leftover cake after oil extraction. Other alternatives like flaxseed cake, sunflower seed cake, peanut cake, and rapeseed cake are also suitable, as they offer comparable nutritional benefits. Using these byproducts helps reduce feed costs significantly. Planting grass as a green feed option is another smart move. High-yield, nutrient-dense grass varieties that are suitable for pigs should be selected. Mixing different types of grass ensures a balanced diet and makes silage easier to produce. If sufficient green feed is available throughout the year, it can replace 50–60% of the concentrate feed, further cutting down on feeding costs. Lastly, using distiller’s grains and vinegar residues to make complete mixed feed is a practical approach. These byproducts are highly palatable to pigs and promote rapid growth, making them valuable additions to the feed mix. This method not only utilizes waste materials effectively but also enhances the overall efficiency of pig farming.
