The "Chongqing Made" surgical shadowless lamp, which was used to treat patients during the Wenchuan Earthquake, is now set for mass production. Yesterday, Lu Guangzhou, the general manager of Chongqing Tianhai Medical Devices Co., Ltd., announced the company's latest industrial design progress. The firm has formed a strategic partnership with Ennis, Wales-based company, and together they plan to invest 6 million pounds in the South Bank Tea Garden area to build China’s first semiconductor medical lighting chip production base.
According to industry reports, semiconductor medical lighting chips are considered the core component of modern surgical shadowless lamps. Unlike traditional halogen lamps, these advanced lamps use LED cold light sources that offer energy efficiency, low heat emission, adjustable color temperature, and brightness. This not only reduces eye strain for surgeons working long hours but also helps minimize the risk of medical errors. Additionally, under the illumination of these lamps, necrotic tissue and healthy tissue display distinct colors, making it easier for doctors to identify and operate. Even in remote areas, the lamps can function continuously for over 10 hours after being charged.
Lu Guangzhou shared that the collaboration with Ennis began back in 2006, focusing on the development of semiconductor medical lighting chips. Initially, the project was limited to small-scale production. However, with the new production base in the Tea Garden area, the company expects an annual output value of 500 million yuan, and the entire industrial chain could reach up to 10 billion yuan. It was also reported that after the Wenchuan earthquake, the "Chongqing-made" surgical shadowless lamps were provided to the First People’s Hospital of Shifang City, playing a crucial role in emergency medical treatment.
