6 million pounds investment in South Bank to build medical lighting chip base

The "Chongqing Made" surgical shadowless lamp, which was used to treat patients during the Wenchuan Earthquake, is now set for mass production. Yesterday, Lu Guangzhou, the general manager of Chongqing Tianhai Medical Devices Co., Ltd., shared details about the company's latest industrial design and development plans. The firm has recently entered into a strategic partnership with Ennis, Wales-based company, Enfes. Together, they will invest 6 million pounds in the South Bank Tea Garden area to build China's first semiconductor medical lighting chip production base. According to industry reports, semiconductor medical lighting chips are considered the core component of modern surgical shadowless lamps. Unlike traditional halogen lamps used in hospital operating rooms, these advanced lamps use LED cold light sources. This technology offers significant benefits such as energy efficiency, lower heat emission, adjustable color temperature, and light intensity. These features help reduce visual fatigue among surgeons working long hours, potentially lowering the risk of medical errors. Moreover, under the illumination of these lamps, necrotic tissue and healthy tissue appear in different colors, making it easier for doctors to distinguish between them during surgery. Even in remote areas, the lamp can operate continuously for over 10 hours after being disconnected from power. Lu Guangzhou revealed that the collaboration with Enfes began back in 2006, focusing on the development of semiconductor medical lighting chips. Initially, the project was limited to small-scale production, but with the new production base in the Tea Garden area, the company expects an annual output value of 500 million yuan, and a total industrial chain worth ten billion yuan. It is also reported that following the Wenchuan earthquake, the "Chongqing-made" surgical shadowless lamp was provided to the First People's Hospital in Shifang City. (small soup)

Lycopene

Lycopene, a carotenoid found in plant foods, is also a red pigment. Dark red acicular crystal, soluble in chloroform, benzene and grease but insoluble in water. Unstable to light and oxygen, turning brown when met with iron. Molecular formula C40H56, relative molecular mass 536.85. The molecular structure has 11 conjugated double bonds and 2 unconjugated double bonds, constituting a straight chain type hydrocarbon. It does not have the physiological activity of vitamin A, but it has strong antioxidant function. The content is higher in the fruits of mature red plants, especially in tomato, carrot, watermelon, papaya and guava. It can be used as pigment in food processing and as raw material of antioxidant health food.
