Chicken manure feed processing method

Chicken manure is a valuable and cost-effective protein source for animal feed. It has been found that dry chicken manure contains 15% to 30% crude protein, 2.4% crude fat, 10% to 16% crude fiber, 30% nitrogen-free extract, 5.6% calcium, 1% linoleic acid, and various essential amino acids. The crude protein in 1 kilogram of chicken manure is roughly equivalent to 600 grams of concentrate feed. There are several methods to process chicken manure for use as animal feed: 1. **Drying**: Fresh chicken manure should be spread on a concrete surface and left to air-dry naturally. Once dried, it can be crushed and used directly as feed. 2. **Fermentation**: Mix chicken manure with rice bran, wheat bran, and grass powder, add water to achieve the right moisture level, then place the mixture in a sealed container such as a cylinder, pit, or plastic bag. After 3 to 5 days of fermentation, it becomes suitable for feeding. 3. **Silage**: Combine 60% chicken manure, 30% straw powder, and 10% bran, ensuring the mixture has about 60% moisture. Seal it and let it ferment for 30 to 50 days before opening for use. 4. **Chemical Treatment**: Apply 0.5% to 1% sulfuric acid or 0.5% formaldehyde solution to semi-dried chicken manure, then dry and crush it before packaging. When adding chicken manure to animal diets, the recommended amounts vary depending on the type of livestock: - For piglets: 5% to 10% - For finishing pigs: 15% to 30% - For sheep: 20% to 35% - For beef cattle: up to 40% - For dairy cows: 10% to 30% - For chickens: 5% to 10% It’s important to use fresh, uncontaminated chicken manure and avoid adding extra calcium sources unless necessary. Also, it’s not advisable to feed chicken manure to laying hens or animals within 15 days of slaughter. Always ensure that grain-based feeds are supplemented appropriately for balanced nutrition.
