It is typically done twice a day, with 80 to 100 kilograms of watermelon rind used per acre of water. Alternatively, for every thousand fish, 60 to 80 kilograms of rind can be added directly into the pond. This allows the fish to consume the pulp directly, while the rind also helps to improve water quality and promote the growth of natural food sources. The key to ensuring that fish can eat the rind effectively is to soften the pulp, making it more digestible.
In the case of dry feeding, the watermelon rind is first peeled using a planer, then sun-dried and ground into a fine powder. This powder is mixed with other feeds and given to the fish at a rate of 2 to 3 kilograms per acre per day, divided into three meals. Combining it with other feed sources ensures a balanced diet and enhances overall fish health and growth.
