Today marks the five-year anniversary of the day Chris and I drained our parents’ bank accounts, got sick, and entered into married bliss. It couldn’t have been better, really.
After returning from our honeymoon, the night before we were going to see all our friends and family again, we got into a wild pillow fight that ended with Chris sporting an obnoxious black eye for about a week. I tried every concealer I had, but nothing could hide it. Still, he loved me.
When we hit almost a month of marriage, we thought it would be fun to host a dinner party and invite our friends over. I planned a full menu of Fiesta Lime Chicken, Spanish Rice, and Fried Plantains. Everything was going smoothly until Chris went upstairs to take a shower, and I thought it was the perfect time to make the Fried Plantains. But then—*boom*—the kitchen caught fire. I calmly told him the kitchen was on fire and called the Fire Department. He ran down the stairs grabbing a towel on his way. After a few minutes, my hero put the fire out using his towel. So there he stood, completely naked, in our kitchen as I told him he might want to put some pants on since the firefighters would be coming for dinner. He still loved me.
On our one-month anniversary, he gave me a fire extinguisher. I still loved him.
Many adventures and a few years later, we’re more in love than ever.
Because we’re in such wedded bliss, I wanted to share a few of my favorite Bliss products with you. Like the slightly fun and flirty scented blood orange + white pepper body butter. Every time I use it, Aliyah keeps sniffing me and says, “Mommy, you smell good.†If my two-year-old likes it, I think you’ll like it too.
