How to extend the watermelon preservation time

Appropriate harvesting. In general, the late-maturing varieties flowered for about 40 days, and several tendrils were withered near the fruit. The fluff of the fruit was shed, the peel was smooth and shiny, and the melons were dulled by hand. The melons were very mature and suitable for instant feeding. The melons used for storage should be appropriately advanced and should be harvested when it matures.

Avoid mechanical damage. Watermelon for storage should not only avoid epidermis damage, but also prevent crowding, pressing, falling and strong vibration. It is better to store it locally on the place of production and avoid excessive handling and long-distance transportation.

Preserve before storage. The melons to be stored can be fumigated with clotrinone and other agents to prevent diseases during storage. The method is to Keluling drug solution containing 0.1 to 0.2 ml per kilogram of the amount of adsorption on cotton balls or absorbent paper, scattered around the melon, and then sealed with plastic film fumigation 24 hours.

Pay attention to the storage temperature. Under the premise of no odor, the lower the storage temperature is, the better the meat flavor is. However, low temperatures are prone to cold damage, affect the appearance of melon, and reduce the price of watermelon. Therefore, the storage period can be used for a short storage temperature, and when the storage period is more than 20 days, the storage temperature can be slightly increased.

Use heap or shelf. Choose cool and dry rooms or arbors, lay 5~10cm thick wheat straw on the ground, make 2~3 layers of yards, or put it on a stand. During storage, pay attention to ventilation and dehumidification, diligently check, and promptly clean up the diseased rotten melons that are not resistant to storage.
