Poor quality of feed causes

One, calcium deficiency

Laying hens require large quantities of calcium to form egg shells, and calcium deficiency in the diet produces shell or soft eggs. A chicken feeds 50 to 70 grams of feed each day, and the utilization of calcium in the feed is only 60%. Therefore, 3% to 4% of shell powder should be added to the chicken compound feed to supplement the deficiency.

Second, phosphorus deficiency

Phosphorus requirement in chicken diets was 0.6%, of which available phosphorus was 0.5%. Therefore, 1% to 2% of bone meal or calcium phosphate must be added to feed to supplement calcium and phosphorus deficiency.

Third, improper calcium and phosphorus ratio

Generally, the ratio of calcium and phosphorus in the diet should be 6-8:1. If not properly proportioned, it will result in the production of thin shell or soft shell eggs. Because calcification of egg shells mainly occurs in the evening, it is appropriate to extend the intake time in the evening. Therefore, feeding the chicken with shellfish or bone meal every evening can improve the quality of the shell.

Fourth, improper use of additives

At present, the ingredients used in various feed additives in China are quite different in composition. We must select suitable additives according to the flock conditions and master reasonable dosages.

V. Lack of vitamin D

The most cost-effective way to get vitamin D is to let the chickens soak up the sun. Vitamin D3 is usually added to the diet during production. Using cod liver oil as a vitamin D supplement and vitamin D deficiency treatment in the diet can achieve satisfactory results.

Sixth, feed mildew

Feeding chickens with moldy feeds will result in reduced weight, lower feed remuneration, poor disease resistance, reduced egg production, and softer eggshells. Therefore, we must properly keep the feed to prevent moisture and mildew.
