Trichlorfon is a broad-spectrum veterinary insect repellent, and it is safe and effective for pigs, cows, horses and other livestock. However, it is not suitable for chickens, ducks and other poultry insecticides.
The reason is that trichlorfon belongs to organophosphorus pesticides, and chickens and ducks have mostly alkaline environment within their crops. Trichlorfon can convert into highly toxic dichlorvos under alkaline conditions, which can cause poisoning. In the event of poisoning, pralidoxime or atropine may be used for detoxification. For chickens and ducks, anthelmintic or levamisole can be used as a deworming agent, and oral administration or subcutaneous injection can be used according to the instructions.
